This file is "08L3189.txt" - Procedure for using the OS/2 3172 Service Disk The Service disks are provided for restoring the 3172 software to the shipped configuration. They perform the following three functions: 1. Boot OS/2 2. Format the C drive 3. Copy the files from drive D to drive C To restore the C drive to the shipped configuration, insert Service disk 1 and boot the 3172. When requested to do so, insert Service Disk 2 and press Enter. When the OS/2 prompt (A>\) appears, press Alt-Esc to switch sessions. Verify that the C drive Format is in progress. Next, when the Format is finished, verify that the files are copied from drive D to drive C. Suggest switching back to original session (Alt-Esc) while the files are copied and periodically switching back to check the progress. The copy will go much faster if each file name is not written to the screen. The copy process will take several minutes to complete. ----------------------------- To build the diskettes - First Step - You need to get these two files from the www site via FTP - 1. 08L3189.exe 2. 08L3190.exe Then, Download these two files in binary to a subdirectory on your PC, placing them in separate subdirectory (if convenient).
