IBM 9595 and SCO Open Server Desktop 5.02

Open Server 5.02 from SCO supports IBM 9595 machines right out of the box. That makes installation straightforward and easy. Drivers are part of the SCO Advanced Hardware Supplement (AHS) Release 5.2.0. In addition version 1.1.1 of NETIO has an executable file for SCO Open Server included.

Environment

DIME will be tested against Talent again. The only difference is, that an other IBM 1GB hard disk, which holds SCO Open Desktop, is working now inside DIME together with the IBM Auto LANStreamer MC 32.
There seems to be no adjustment for the TCP Receive Window Size (RWIN) and no Full Duplex driver support under SCO Open Server. Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) is set to 4044 byte by default.
SCO command sar -u 2 30 is used to measure CPU Load for the NETIO executable. Just like before, all test runs were done ten times and averaged.

IBM RS/6000 7006-42W and AIX 4.3.3

IBM's Auto LANStreamer MC 32 with FRU 60G1593 works in the MCA based IBM RISC workstations. The 42W is equipped with a 120MHz PowerPC 604 cpu, 512KB second level cache, 96MB RAM, POWER Gt4xi 24-bit Graphics Subsystem and an IBM DDRS-34560 4,5GB hard disk. Operating system is IBM's proprietary Unix, called AIX, here with the version 4.3.3. JANUS is the workstation's host name.

Environment

JANUS will be tested against Talent. Full Duplex support is turned on. Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) is set to 1498 byte by default.
AIX command sar -P ALL 12 6 is used to measure CPU Load for the NETIO executable, which was compiled from the NETIO 1.3.1. source with gcc 3.4.3. Just like before, all test runs were done ten times and averaged.

The 42W has enough power to operate the Auto LANStreamer's 32Mb/s bandwith. CPU load never exceeds 29%, which means continuously high data troughput with continuously low CPU load. HTTP loads appear to be nice quick. The whole machine acts very responsive.
