IBM Softcopy Librarian - Version=5.1 Product Id. 5648032. Copyright: Copyright (c) 2000, 2016 IBM Corporation Currency: This Readme file was last updated on 03/25/2016. PLEASE NOTE: The version of Softcopy Librarian appearing in the 2H2015 PDF Collection Kits is still V4.6. Support for all Softcopy Librarian versions is obtained by sending concerns, problems or suggestions, via email, to bookmgr@us.ibm.com. These items are handled on an 'as time permits' basis. PLEASE READ: V4.2x or earlier versions are not supported on Microsoft Windows Vista or later. V4.3 or later is required for support on Microsoft Windows Vista. V4.3 is not supported on Microsoft Windows 7. V4.4 (and later) is required for support on Microsoft Windows 7. If you have installed V4.2 on Microsoft Windows Vista, you will need to uninstall V4.2 before you install IBM Softcopy Librarian V4.3 or later. When installing on Windows Vista you may receive a message from User Account Control. You will need to select 'Allow' to continue the installation. File location changes: In IBM Softcopy Librarian V4.3 and later, the sources.fil and repository.fil, both now reside in the output directory. On Microsoft Windows XP the default directory for these files was: x:\Program Files\IBM\IBM Softcopy Librarian V4\output where x is the install drive IBM Softcopy Librarian is installed to. On Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x and Windows 10 the default directory for these files is: x:\\Roaming\IBM\ibm softcopy librarian\output where x is the install drive IBM Softcopy Librarian is installed to. By default, on Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x and Windows 10 the Program Files directory is set to read only. Please be advised that Softcopy Librarian uses 'Passive' FTP. Presently Version Softcopy Librarian does not support 'Active' FTP. Note that 'shelves' directories with 'book/pdf' directories as sub directories and vice versa, may cause problems with the Softcopy Librarian catalog. We currently do not recommend that your file structure be set up in this manner. Testing is done with directories set up subordinate only to the root or to another directory unrelated to the repositories. Fixes/Changes in V5: 10/01/2015 (SCL 5.0) This is a new version. This version supersedes V4.6. It contains all the 4.6 functionality, and introduces support for collections of Knowledge Center plugins. 03/14/2016 (SCL 5.1) "Local source" support added for KC4z plugins (in addition to existing support for "internet" source) which is to address the requirement for vendor-provided KC4z plugin content. Support for a local source requires a corresponding *.zip.inv file to provide an inventory of the files on the local source to be provisioned. Following are instructions for how to exploit "local source" support: - Use SCL V5.1 to configure a new "source" on a local drive on your Windows PC, such as c:\mylocalsource\unzip - Use the jar command to extract the contents of myproduct.zip (containing the myproduct KC content) into c:\mylocalsource\unzip - Add a "plugin.properties" properties file to c:\mylocalsource\unzip. Here's a sample "plugin.properties" file: product = MYPRODUCT toc = master_map.ditamap landing.page= myproductwelcome.htm - Create subdirectory c:\mylocalsource\unzip\catalog - Add a "myproduct.zip.inv" inventory file to c:\mylocalsource\unzip\catalog, noting that the nameinrepository= keyword must reflect the directory configured in SCL as the new "source" and noting also that though there are references to myproduct.zip throughout, it is only used as a collective "virtual name" for the data in the directory configured as the "source." Here's a sample "myproduct.zip.inv" file: #catalog rebuild information for plugin: C:\mylocalsource\unzip\myproduct.zip #Fri Feb 05 15:15:15 EDT 2016 filename=myproduct.zip installdate=2016-02-05 15\:15\:15 publishdate=2015-08-31 13\:54\:21 orderNumber=myproduct nameinrepository=./myproduct.zip zipfiles=com.myc.prodin.ditamap;com.myc.prodms.ditamap;com.myc.prodrf.ditamap;com.myc.prodri.ditamap;com.myc.prodse.ditamap;com.myc.prodtp.ditamap;master_map.ditamap;.DS_Store;prod.css;prod.htm;prod.xml;plugin.xml;pdilogo.png;Thumbs.db;plugin.properties collectionlist= collection=myproduct.zip zipdirs=com.myc.prodin;com.myc.prodms;com.myc.prodrf;com.myc.prodri;com.myc.prodse;com.myc.prodtp;catalog title=MyProduct Knowledge Center size=1234567 - Manually remove any myproduct content and properties data you may have previously installed manually in you KC4z repository on z/OS - Use SCL V5.1 to open the newly configured and loaded local source, and then send the "myproduct.zip" to your previously configured KC4z repository on z/OS (note that SCL will send your content, create and send an appropriate MYPRODUCT.properties file, and send an updated copy of myproduct.zip.inv) - On your z/OS server, you must deploy a customized copy of the installed KC_taxonomy.ditamap, having a "MYPRODUCT" entry point, in order to see your newly provisioned content via the KC4z web application. Follow these steps to do so: - Into a writable directory, make a copy of the installed /usr/lpp/kc4z/samples/KC_taxonomy.ditamap file to customize - In /sharedapps/kc4z/servers/kc4zServer/kc.properties, Edit the taxonomy.path=/usr/lpp/kc4z/samples/KC_taxonomy.ditamap line in to reflect the directory which will contain your customized KC_taxonomy.ditamap file - Customize your KC_taxonomy.ditamap file by inserting the following lines: immediately before this existing entry: - Restart your KC4z Server (hkcsvr1) to load your customized KC_taxonomy.ditamap and display MYPRODUCT in the KC4z TOC - Note that from time to time IBM will ship service to /usr/lpp/kc4z/samples/KC_taxonomy.ditamap. If you have deployed a customized KC_taxonomy.ditamap you should re-customize after any such service is installed "Local repository" support added for KC4z plugins (in addition to existing support for z/OS repositories under Unix System Services) which enables the "Darkroom Scenario" where there is no access outside the firewall in which z/OS is running. In this case, from a laptop running outside the firewall, the end user can download KC4z content from the internet source to a local repository on the laptop, scan it for malware, and then using the laptop inside the firewall do a repository to repository transfer from the local repository to the z/OS repository under Unix System Services. "Delete Collection" KC4z function enhanced to also remove from the repository the individual zip files comprising a collection (not just the primary zip file defining the collection) Added support for Windows 10. Fixed various bugs and regressions introduced by support for collections of Knowledge Center plugins. Limitations in this release: The previous limitations in SCL V5.0 for "Local source" and "Local repository" support have been lifted in SCL V5.1. System requirements: Software (Only the following is supported). - Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x or Windows 10. with the latest service packs applied.
