;start(CALIBRATION) Calibration Procedures The calibration procedure sets the 4687 Model 2 weighing function to a standard unit of measure per Weights and Measures specifications. This procedure involves the use of a certified field standard weight set for either pounds or kilograms (Metric) calibration. Once the scale unit is calibrated, the 4687 Model 2 uses the certified weight as a reference for subsequent weighing activities. Access to the calibration mechanism may be secured with a paper or a wire security seal per Weights and Measures requirements. The calibration procedure must be performed without removing the 4687 Model 2 from its installed position. 1. Be sure that the 4687 Model 2 is properly and permanently installed in the counter top and that the scanner unit lifting straps are removed. 2. Power ON the 4687 Model 2 (if not already on). 3. Allow the 4687 Model 2 to reach room temperature for at least 1 hour. When the 4687 Model 2 has been at room temperature for at least 1 hour, allow at least 15 minutes for the electronics in the scale unit to warm-up and stabilize after power ON. 4. The scale unit must be pre-stressed with a weight of more than 30 pounds (15 kilograms). Place the entire weight set (including the case) on the weighing surface of the scanner-scale. 5. Remove the weight set from the weighing surface. 6. Lift the operator panel door and locate the screw that covers the calibration switch access hole. Use a screwdriver and remove the calibration switch access screw. 7. Place the 4687 Model 2 in calibration mode by inserting a 7/64 inch Allen wrench, P/N 2108490, or a similar tool into the calibration switch access hole and press and release the recessed calibration switch. The ZERO indicator light will begin to blink indicating that the 4687 Model 2 is in calibration mode. Message ESCL will display on the remote scale display. 8. Press and release the ZERO pushbutton switch. The ZERO indicator light will turn on for approximately 10 seconds and then begin to blink again. Message Ad20 (for pounds) or Ad10 (for kilograms) will display on the remote scale display. 9. Place 20 pounds or 10 kilograms (for Metric calibration) of certified weight near the center of the weighing area of the 4687 Model 2. Note: One or more certified weights can be used to reach the required weight total. 10. Press and release the ZERO pushbutton switch. The ZERO indicator light will turn off for 10 to 25 seconds. If the calibration is successful, the ZERO indicator light will then turn on and remain on. Message FIN will display on the remote scale display. Note: If message "E32" is displayed on the remote scale display the required weight was not placed on the weighing surface of the 4687 Model 2. 11. Press and release the ZERO pushbutton switch again to permanently store the calibration data. The ZERO indicator light will turn off. Note: If calibration was NOT successful, the ZERO indicator light will begin blinking. Repeat the calibration procedure beginning at Step 7 on this page. 12. Remove the weights from the 4687 Model 2. Message 0.00 (pounds) or 0.000 (kilograms) will display on the remote scale display and the ZERO indicator light will turn on and remain on. 13. Check that the 4687 Model 2 weighs accurately and that calibration is successful. Refer to "Verification of Scale Operation" in topic 5.1 and follow the instructions. ;end(CALIBRATION)
