--------------------------------------------------------------------- IR31236 has been installed. Patch created on: 7th of November, 1996. Patch applies to: SNACOM on OS/2 Patch consists of: File: Size: Date: Time: ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ C:\PSCA\PSCA.ABS 139187 23-Oct-96 2:40p Description of the problem: CCW trace and PT-3 trace show the 3172 giving 00 status after an '90', ATTN+BUSY status. PT-3 trace shows that the 3172 gives '80',ATTN status which is stacked. Then a 17 WRITE CTL is issued to which the 3172 gives '90' ATTN+BUSY status. VTAM responds with 14-01-02 CCW chain. However, on the ending status the 3172 gives an erroneous 00 status between CHANNEL END(08) and DEVICE END (04). Example of PT-3 (The initial ATTN (80) is not seen in CCW trace because it is stacked) 3172 Channel VTAM ATTN(80)-----><----- VTAM SSCH for 17-01-02 CCW chain <--stacked <-------17 ATTN+BUSY(90)--------> 3172 gives ATTN+BUSY for initial stat. <----- VTAM SSCH for 14-01-02 CCW chain <-------14 CE+DE(0C)---> <-------01 CE+DE(0C)---> <----02 CE (08)-----> CE alone will not show up in CCW trace. ?? (00)-----> Invalid 00 status. DE (04)-----> DE will show up in CCW trace Description of the fix: In the internal processing by the psca in the 3172, after an ATTN+BUSY status is read the 3172 stacked status condition is now cleared. This is the same PSCA microcode level shipped with 3172 ICP 342. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
