3172 Year 2000 Compliance Last Update: 09/04/98 The 3172 (ICP) is Year 2000 Compliant - there are NO REQUIRED patches. However, two patches are available for the customer to determine whether they should be applied or not. The descriptions are below. Choosing not to apply the patches will not affect the 3172's performance in the year 2000. 1. Operator Facility Year 2000 Fixes (NOT REQUIRED) ----- When 'viewing the system log' from the Utilities menu, the years 2000-2009 are displayed as only one digit. (0/03/25 instead of 00/03/25) ----- 'Viewing the system log' from the Utilities menu allows the user to enter a range of dates to display. An error message will appear when any year after 1999 is entered as the end date. The error states that the end date cannot be less than the start date. Applying the OF/2 patch listed below will fix both problems stated above. 2. ICP Year 2000 Fix (NOT REQUIRED) ----- The 3172 stores certain files, such as system.log and trace.dat, on the hardfile, which are copied to a diskette when "C3 documentation" files are collected. When dir is used to see the directory listing of these files, the year will appear as '28' instead of '00' for the year 2000. ('29' instead of '01' for 2001...) Applying the ICP patch listed below will fix this. There is a different patch level for each different level of code on the 3172. As the different patch levels become available, this text will be updated to include their names. Patch levels currently available: ------------------------------------- CODE LEVEL | OF/2 PATCH | ICP PATCH -----------|-------------|----------- V342 (ICP) | In Progress| PLXX504B V350 (ICP) | PLXX502 | PLXX504 V352 (ICP) | In Progress| PLXX504C | |
