The 486/25 Power Platform is an optional upgrade kit for the Model 70 386 (8570-A21) that significantly increases performance by replacing the existing 25MHz 80386 microprocessor with a new 25MHz i486 microprocessor. The 486/25 Power Platform includes a 25MHz i486 32-bit microprocessor that features an internal memory cache controller, an internal 8Kb cache, and an internal floating-point processing unit that performs the functions of an external 80387 Math Co-Processor. The Model 70 386 with the 486/25 Power Platform installed is appropriate for advanced users who perform numeric-intensive applications requiring floating point operations, advanced graphics, and large memory capacities. The 486/25 Power Platform is compatible with most existing software products for IBM personal computer and Personal System/2 systems.
