XCLOCK(1) AIX XCLOCK(1) NAME xclock - analog / digital clock for X SYNOPSIS xxxxcccclllloooocccckkkk [-_t_o_o_l_k_i_t_o_p_t_i_o_n ...] [-help] [-analog] [-digital] [-chime] [-hd _c_o_l_o_r] [-hl _c_o_l_o_r] [-update _s_e_c_o_n_d_s] [-padding _n_u_m_b_e_r] DESCRIPTION The _x_c_l_o_c_k program displays the time in analog or digital form. The time is continuously updated at a frequency which may be specified by the user. This program is nothing more than a wrapper around the Athena Clock widget. OPTIONS _X_c_l_o_c_k accepts all of the standard X Toolkit command line options along with the additional options listed below: ----hhhheeeellllpppp This option indicates that a brief summary of the allowed options should be printed on the standard error. ----aaaannnnaaaalllloooogggg This option indicates that a conventional 12 hour clock face with tick marks and hands should be used. This is the default. ----ddddiiiiggggiiiittttaaaallll This option indicates that a 24 hour digital clock should be used. ----cccchhhhiiiimmmmeeee This option indicates that the clock should chime once on the half hour and twice on the hour. ----hhhhdddd _c_o_l_o_r This option specifies the color of the hands on an analog clock. The default is _b_l_a_c_k. ----hhhhllll _c_o_l_o_r This option specifies the color of the edges of the hands on an analog clock, and is only useful on color displays. The default is _b_l_a_c_k. ----uuuuppppddddaaaatttteeee _s_e_c_o_n_d_s This option specifies the frequency in seconds at which _x_c_l_o_c_k should update its display. If the clock is obscured and then exposed, it will be updated immediately. A value of less than 30 seconds will enable a second hand on an analog clock. The default is 60 seconds. ----ppppaaaaddddddddiiiinnnngggg _n_u_m_b_e_r This option specifies the width in pixels of the padding between the window border and clock text or Rev. Release 5 Page 1 XCLOCK(1) AIX XCLOCK(1) picture. The default is 10 on a digital clock and 8 on an analog clock. X DEFAULTS This program uses the _A_t_h_e_n_a _C_l_o_c_k widget. It understands all of the core resource names and classes as well as: wwwwiiiiddddtttthhhh ((((class WWWWiiiiddddtttthhhh)))) Specifies the width of the clock. The default for analog clocks is 164 pixels; the default for digital clocks is whatever is needed to hold the clock when displayed in the chosen font. hhhheeeeiiiigggghhhhtttt ((((class HHHHeeeeiiiigggghhhhtttt)))) Specifies the height of the clock. The default for analog clocks is 164 pixels; the default for digital clocks is whatever is needed to hold the clock when displayed in the chosen font. uuuuppppddddaaaatttteeee ((((class IIIInnnntttteeeerrrrvvvvaaaallll)))) Specifies the frequency in seconds at which the time should be redisplayed. ffffoooorrrreeeeggggrrrroooouuuunnnndddd ((((class FFFFoooorrrreeeeggggrrrroooouuuunnnndddd)))) Specifies the color for the tic marks. The default is depends on whether _r_e_v_e_r_s_e_V_i_d_e_o is specified. If _r_e_v_e_r_s_e_V_i_d_e_o is specified the default is _l_w_h_i_t_e, otherwise the default is _b_l_a_c_k. hhhhaaaannnnddddssss ((((class FFFFoooorrrreeeeggggrrrroooouuuunnnndddd)))) Specifies the color of the insides of the clock's hands. The default is depends on whether _r_e_v_e_r_s_e_V_i_- _d_e_o is specified. If _r_e_v_e_r_s_e_V_i_d_e_o is specified the default is _l_w_h_i_t_e, otherwise the default is _b_l_a_c_k. hhhhiiiigggghhhhlllliiiigggghhhhtttt ((((class FFFFoooorrrreeeeggggrrrroooouuuunnnndddd)))) Specifies the color used to highlight the clock's hands. The default is depends on whether _r_e_v_e_r_s_e_V_i_d_e_o is specified. If _r_e_v_e_r_s_e_V_i_d_e_o is specified the default is _l_w_h_i_t_e, otherwise the default is _b_l_a_c_k. aaaannnnaaaalllloooogggg ((((class BBBBoooooooolllleeeeaaaannnn)))) Specifies whether or not an analog clock should be used instead of a digital one. The default is True. cccchhhhiiiimmmmeeee ((((class BBBBoooooooolllleeeeaaaannnn)))) Specifies whether or not a bell should be rung on the hour and half hour. ppppaaaaddddddddiiiinnnngggg ((((class MMMMaaaarrrrggggiiiinnnn)))) Specifies the amount of internal padding in pixels Rev. Release 5 Page 2 XCLOCK(1) AIX XCLOCK(1) to be used. The default is 8. ffffoooonnnntttt ((((class FFFFoooonnnntttt)))) Specifies the font to be used for the digital clock. Note that variable width fonts currently will not always display correctly. WIDGETS In order to specify resources, it is useful to know the hierarchy of the widgets which compose _x_c_l_o_c_k. In the nota- tion below, indentation indicates hierarchical structure. The widget class name is given first, followed by the widget instance name.
