When these errors occur, the BIOS displays, in segment:offset format, the address of the failing software instruction. See xxxx:xxxx in the Message column of Table 3-10. In cases of memory parity errors, the software instruction address can be, but is not always the location of the parity error. When an unexpected interrupt occurs, BIOS displays the failing interrupt number. (See nn in the Message column of 3.9.3.) These menu-driven programs are intended for service personnel use only. To service a system unit where the 4695 Point-of-Sale Adapter resides, use the maintenance documentation and diskettes for that system unit. The 4695 Service Diskette menus are dynamic and change depending upon the configuration. Therefore, what you see on your 4695 may be somewhat different than what you see here. The following illustrates the flow of the menus. 4695 Service Diskette Menus Main Menu ^Test Menu^ ^View Configuration^ ^Start System Console Configuration^ ^Backup / Restore CMOS RAM^ ^Quit^ ;end(4695 Service Diskette Introduction) ;start(Test Menu) Test Menu Use this selection to view the^System Test Menu^ which allows you to test the Point-of-Sale Adapters or attached and configured POS devices. ;end(Test Menu) ;start(View Configuration) View Configuration Use this selection to view pos configuration and to verify configuration results. This program does not change the configuration. ;end(View Configuration) ;start(Start System Console Configuration) Start System Console Configuration Use this selection to define the attached point- of-sale devices to the system at installation time or anytime devices are added or removed. The host keyboard and display are also selected at this time. The terminal reboots automatically after running the start pos configuration. ;end(Start System Console Configuration) ;start(Backup / Restore CMOS RAM) Backup / Restore CMOS RAM Use this selection to write the CMOS RAM data to the backup service diskette. This is helpful, for example, when the battery needs exchanging. The CMOS data can be backed up, then after the battery replacement is complete, CMOS data can be restored. ;end(Backup / Restore CMOS RAM) ;start(Quit) Quit This selection exits the utility. ;end(Quit) ;start(System Test Menu) System Test Menu: Use this menu to select the component of the 4695 system you want to test. ^Terminal Test Menu^ ^Device Test Menu^ ^4695 Service Level Update Procedure^ ^Removing the Power-On Password^ ;end(System Test Menu) ;start(Terminal Test Menu) Terminal Test Menu Use this menu to select which 4695 terminal to test. There may be as many as four terminals attached and only one can be tested at a time. Terminals attached to the 4695 Point-of-Sale Adapter are assigned odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7). ;end(Terminal Test Menu) ;start(Device Test Menu) Device Test Menu Use this menu to select the POS device to test. The program dynamically determines which devices are attached to the selected terminal. ;end(Device Test Menu) ;start(POST Beep Codes - 4695 Models 201 and 211) POST Beep Codes - 4695 Models 201 and 211 Beep codes are sequences of tones that present hardware failures to the speaker. When these errors occur, the BIOS displays, in segment:offset format, the address of the failing software instruction. See xxxx:xxxx in the Message column of Table 3-10. In cases of memory parity errors, the software instruction address can be, but is not always the location of the parity error.
