File: README for M-Audio Capture and Playback Adapter (M-ACPA) Congratulations on the purchase of your new M-Audio Capture and Playback Adapter for the IBM Personal System/2. Along with this README file your diskette should contain the file @6E6C.ADF and directories \DIAG, \DEMO, \SAMPLES and \API. The ADF file is only needed for Micro Channel computers. Each of the three directories contain a unique README file for quick reference and updating information. This README file contains general updates and clarifications for the audio board. Updates and Clarifications: (1). The Microphone sensitivity specification in the M-ACPA manual pg. vii is based upon 0 db = 1 volt/micro bar. (2). The best audio quality (Signal to Noise ratio) from the M-ACPA may be obtained by adhering to the following guidelines: a. For optimum performance, place the M-ACPA as far as possible from other adapters. b. The computer should have its cover on and secured. All unoccupied board slots should have a metal bracket installed. c. The cables used with M-ACPA should be shielded, as short as possible (less than 6 ft.), and not tangled. Attempt to place the audio and video cables at maximum distance from each other. See manual page A16, step A350 for further diagnosing cable problems. d. Avoid unnecessary plugging and un-plugging connections to the M-ACPA as this tends to degrade the quality of the cable to board connection.
