The 9507 meets the requirements of the Flat Panel Addendum (draft) to ISO 9241 (when used with an ISO-compliant font and operating system), providing flicker-free display for all refresh rates (including 60Hz). Borderless screen operation maximizes use of the available screen area. In addition, outstanding screen clarity (flicker-free even at 60Hz), low emissions and low power consumption are readily appreciated by users, who will be very comfortable with the display, very quickly. Ergonomic design and user comfort and confidence are a powerful combination to facilitate improved productivity. The 9507 Display operates in all VGA BIOS modes and existing applications can run without change. The IBM 9507 Color Display is a technologically advanced monitor. The physical characteristics, inherent in the technology, enable it to be used where the power of the desktop and the ergonomics normally associated with portables are required. It is ideally suited in applications where the maximum advantage of the ergonomic design of each can be realized. Single Unit Price: $3,935. Availability Date: October 28, 1993. EXTERNAL AGENCY APPROVALS: REGULATORY AGENCY APPROVALS: FCC Class B (EMC) UL 1950 First Edition (Safety) CSA C22.2 No. 950 (Canada: Safety) MACHINE REQUIREMENTS: The IBM 9507 Color Display is VGA compatible and has been tested with the IBM 9556 and 6384 system units. It is already announced in conjunction with the PS/2 E system unit. PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS: The actual display mode used is a function of the attaching system. COMPATIBILITY: The IBM 9507 Color Display operates in all VGA BIOS modes. LIMITATIONS: 1. 16 Color Operation The IBM 9507 Color Display gives optimum front-of-screen performance when using the 16 default colors of the operating system device drivers. It can also run in 640 x 480 256 color mode, although some front-of-screen degradation may occur. This degradation is some breakup of large areas of uniform color and is dependent on the colors used. It is possible to remove the effects by changing the colors selected. For this reason support for 640 x 480 256 color mode has not been claimed. 2. Sub-Pixel Defects Screens with a maximum of 10 sub-pixel lit defects will be considered suitable for customer shipment. This will fall well within the requirements of the Flat Panel Addendum (draft) to ISO 9241. It should be noted that there are almost one million sub-pixels on each display panel, and a small number of defects will not be intrusive: indeed, some defects will not be detectable at all. 3. Screen Streaking Effect A small number of dither patterns may cause screen streaking and it is recommended that such patterns are not used. The most significant known occurrence is with the "50% Gray -- Desktop" pattern in Windows 3.1. 4. Adapter Exclusions The IBM 9507 Color Display is not supported with the following display adapters: o M-Motion Video Adapter/A (Micro Channel) o PS/2 Action Media II Display Adapter/A (Micro Channel) o PS/2 Action Media II Display Adapter (ISA) o PS/2 Action Media II Capture Option.
